YOUTILITY

Why Smart Marketing Is About Help, Not Hype

The difference between helping and selling is just two letters. But those two letters are critically important to your company’s success.

You’re not competing for attention only against other, similar products. You’re competing for attention against everything. To win in this hyper-competitive environment, you must ask “How can we help?”

If you sell something, you make a customer today, but if you genuinely help someone, you create a customer for life. This is Youtility.

Includes interviews with dozens of companies practicing Youtility, and provides 6 blueprints for building Youtility in your company.

Brand Haiku – Delta

stone lantern 300x225 Brand Haiku – DeltaToday, I’m participating in a project with 20+ other bloggers. Each of us is writing a haiku about a recent experience we’ve had with a brand.

Devised by the crafty Aaron Strout from Powered, this Brand Haiku initiative is set up so that you can link from here to the next blogger on the chain, and then from that blog to the next one, etc.

I’ve seen the previews, and there are some hilarious and awesome haikus out there. Check em out!

Wow! Kudos everyone for fantastic entries. Picking a winner was WAAAAY harder than I expected. My favorite is……(drum roll)…….Becca G with:

    AT&T Jerk-
    “This call may be recorded.”
    Don’t make me call twice

Summarized very succinctly a circumstance we’ve all had. Well done!

I also really liked Mpace101, Susan Baier, and Michael Cary. As haikus, they were perhaps my favorite. But, because this is #brandhaiku, and they didn’t reference particular brand experiences as much as Becca, she wins a copy of The NOW Revolution.

Thanks again to all for playing. We’ll have more contests and giveaways as we get closer to book launch date (Feb 1, 2011).

I just found a great company that builds websites for info products. To keep your costs low, they’ll mentor you on how to create your site, design a marketing funnel (one of the guys works in Hollywood and makes really slick videos), and the other guy programmed Myspace. If you’re looking to have professional web design for your small business and not waste any time or money then check their site out.
