Apple Introduces New Technology

What’s new with Apple?

A lot.

Their Fall 2015 keynote took place on Wednesday morning, and the company came fully loaded with new product announcements. Some of the highlights?

As well as pencils, engineered specifically for Apple products:

Giant iPads were also a hit:

Burning Man Continues to Jump the Shark

Back in the day, Burning Man was a small and mostly obscure event, where people would gather to celebrate the arts in the desert. In recent years, it has escalated to more than 70,000 attendees (including celebrities), and is being described as “the next frontier of networking.”

We tracked Burning Man this year, and found that several famous figures were at the center of the conversation. Our word cloud shows that model Cara Delevingne and popstar Katy Perry were the among the most mentioned:

As of Friday, September 11, Perry was also atop the Top Authors by Mentions on the event’s Twitter “Leaderboard”:

Other key past and present attendees include members of Silicon Valley’s elite — Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin, Larry Page and Elon Musk — have all made the trek to Black Rock City. While the Playa’s extremities make it hard for businesses to put up billboards or sponsor activities, having some of the world’s top business leaders in attendance would certainly prompt ticket purchases. This week’s top trending stories for Burning Man provided commentary on how the tech industry is taking over the festival:

  1. Mark Zuckerberg Took a Helicopter To Burning Man To Serve Grilled Cheeses
  2. Why Sergey Brin and Elon Musk May Be Trying to Make Burning Man a Year-Round Event
  3. Why Burning Man is Silicon Valley
  4. What Burning Man teaches us about marketing, humanity

Our takeaway: As Burning Man grows each year, sovereignty from branding and corporations will continue to dwindle.
